September 2013:
LINCOLN, Park Street Mosque.
Nineteen members of the group travelled to the Mosque in Lincoln on the first Thursday in September.
We were greeted in a very cordial manner by Ghada and she proved to be an excellent guide. The building now used as a Mosque was originally a Baptist chapel so it is rather different to what one might expect. However, as shown by one of the photographs it is adorned with many important images and posters as a reminder of the basis of their faith.

I don’t think Ghada was expecting so many visitors and at first was a little nervous – apparently most groups are small and composed of schoolchildren! Her apprehension didn’t last long and we all settled down and found her explanation of their religion most interesting. We listened with interest to her explanation of the significance and importance of praying five times a day, the rituals of washing and preparation for prayers.
Ghada gave us an insight to many aspects of their religion but space does not permit me to record all this here.
I would like to thank John for starting the group and Fiona and Max for continuing the organisation now that John is not so active. Long may it continue.
