SEPTEMBER 2010:
St Andrew, HECKINGTON and St Oswald, HOWELL
Our
September visits were to Heckington and Howell. Our guide to St
Andrew’s church at Heckington was the Vicar, Revd David Boule. He
welcomed us to the church and then said go outside! Then
followed a fascinating examination of the exterior of this
magnificent building. It must have been absolutely amazing when
all the statues which filled a remarkable number of niches were in
place. When we eventually entered the church David gave us an
equally fascinating tour before refreshments were served by the
Heckington ladies.
We
then travelled about three miles through a particularly picturesque
part of rural Lincolnshire to the small church at Howell. There
were some unexpected and very interesting monuments in this very
peaceful building. Another excellent day out!
